Hi Brian,
I was your stage wife Eva Peron in Evita. I ran across all of this and think it's really cool.
I hope you enjoy living a dream!

How far along did they seem with the project? In other words, what was your interpretation of the timetable? Are they physically testing/flying the airframe this year?

They have such an ambitious schedule that I've been skeptical that they would get it out in time for their planned launch date, if at all. After all, it's not all that far off and it doesn't look like anything has been fabricated yet. From what you said, it seems to be moving forward, but last I heard, Jim was still looking for money. There hasn't been any indication of anything other than a preliminary investigation.

It's just hard to believe at this point, considering how far along Virgin is with theirs. Benson indicated that he will beat Rutan.

I'm not personally aware of any discussion about the future of Dream Chaser as an actual orbital craft, but considering the fact that the vehicles Dream Chaser is derived from (specifically BOR-4) actually have made it into orbit, I think that you make a very reasonable and insightful assumption about the potential future applications.

As far as getting access to the FlightSim is concerned, I'm with you! BSC is actually building a physical simulator, but I don't know if they have considered releasing the software portion for enthusiasts to test-fly themselves. I think that's a reasonable question for the next time I am in contact w/ Jim.

What an adventure this must be! Thanks for the insightful post. Regarding the flight stages, I guess training the Dreamchaser to ride atop a small first booster stage will prepare it for orbital flights. As for the flight simulator, it would be really cool if there were a version of it for wannabe astronauts to try, as part of the whole tourist experience.
